Time management is the act or process of planning and exerting control over the time employed for specific activities, especially to increase effectiveness, efficiency and productivity. Time management can be improved by a series of skills, tools and techniques that are used in order to accomplish specific actions, projects and goals within a pre-set time frame. This topic includes a vast range of activities, including planning, allocation, goal setting, delegation, time requirements analysis, monitoring, organisation and programming. Initially, time management was applied exclusively to commercial or professional activities, but lately the term has been extended to include also the personal sphere. A time management system is composed of a certain combination of processes, tools, techniques and methods and is to be viewed and understood as a discipline composed of cognitive-behavioural techniques. Time management is generally required in all development projects because it allows accurate calculation of the project completion time.
